What could be better than spending your Friday afternoon in Regents Park? Well… spending a summer’s Friday afternoon in Regents Park with food, drink and Michelle Roux Junior of course!
And when a KDH outing involves this tasty line up, there’s no stopping us. The food was something else – small plates like I’d never known them before. I’m talking tender morsels of lamb, spicy guinea fowl, scallops with pancetta, pork belly buns…it goes on and on.
Of course, any good food needs to be washed down with a similarly top notch beverage and it didn’t take much persuasion for us to go in for the Bloody Marys, Aperol spritz’s, pina coladas and prosecco.
But what about dessert I hear you cry? No need to panic, KDH don’t do things in half measures – we spied the salted caramel ice cream and were there, quicker than a shot, revelling in our newly found sweet/salty success.
Obviously though, where there’s this much play, there has to be some work too. I stepped up to the mark and took one for the team, getting my hands dirty in a Thai cooking demonstration. I chopped shallots, I squeezed limes, I crushed peanuts. It was all blood, sweat and tears but worth it for the sour, hot, sweet and salty seabass dish which I’m proud to say I contributed to. Taste of London – we’ve got it covered. See you next year.
